A liver transplant can work for the type of cancer that Job's suffered from, which is the probable reason for its need. His sad death is likely to be due to either cancer, the liver not working, or problems with the immune-suppressing medications used to counter organ rejection. Neuroendocrine cancers can be seemingly cured by liver transplant, however if it is coming back it usually rears its ugly head within 2 years.
Jobs had apperared gaunt for sometime which he attributed to hormone imbalances. He then went on a medical leave and then had a liver transplant. The liver is my favorite organ, its also the 2nd largest organ we have (the skin being the biggest).
The liver is a hugely important metabolic organ (probably the most important organ) for carbohydrate, protein, fats and hormones. It deals with synthesis and excretion of bile, stores vitamins, filters impurities and toxic material from our blood and generally detoxifies the body.
The liver produces bile which enables us to digest fats, which is essential for absorption of fat-soluble vitamins like Vitamin A,Vitamin D, Vitamin E and Vitamin K. The liver breaks down substances like ammonia, metabolic waste, drugs, alcohol, and chemicals which it receives in increasing amounts (modern life) and then detoxifies what gets into the body.
