The advice I received from a previous ruptured achilles sufferer was that its unlikely that you to non weight bear 100% of the time and will no doubt have a few mishaps. The trick it seems is keeping these to a minimum.
The few incidents they shared with me seem to revolve around crutches slipping or getting trapped. The resulting pain is described as tingling feeling, like needles. Not sure thats what mine feels right now but hopefully its just my perception.
When I fell earlier my crutch slipped while I was stepping down the front step of our house and I had to step really, really hard with my bad foot to avoid falling flat on my face. I probably should of just let myself fall flat on my face as the pain was and still is pretty severe.
Hopefully the cast has kept my foot in a position and protected me and the pain will subside. Otherwise it'll be a call to NHS direct and yet more time sat at the hospital.
